OWNERS DESCRIPTION: Welcome to Lookout Point Camp. A destination where broad smiles and fun-filled memories are here for the taking. A pristine gem in the north, we offer a wilderness surrounding, yet with an attention to detail that comes from a trusted "hands-on" approach.
Established in 1967, Lookout Point Camp prides itself on being a non-commercialized retreat, gracefully situated on the northern tip of picturesque Gowganda Lake. Spanning thirty-six miles of rugged and unspoiled shoreline, our lake is nestled amid a junction of flowing lakes and rivers, ultimately feeding the Montreal River watershed.
Our picturesque camp consists of four waterfront cabins, all overlooking the splendid views of Gowganda Lake. Each cabin is meticulously maintained, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness that we have come to pride ourselves on. All amenities are provided for, making your "temporary" home a welcoming retreat that exudes relaxation and comfort to the utmost degree.
Choose from one of two, two bedroom cabins (sleeps four), one three bedroom (sleeps six), and a six bedroom (sleeps 12.) We have outfitted the three and six-bedroom cabins with an additional fridge for added convenience - both for store bought food and the fresh caught variety.
Each of our dwellings is constructed of breathtakingly beautiful wood - allowing our guests to truly experience what real cottage living is all about.
With a cozy fireplace to warm your weary bones after a long day on the lake, a screened- in porch to savour that early morning coffee in or the spacious living room to relax with a good book, our cabins all provide a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying your stay. More info >>

OWNERS DESCRIPTION: Yes, many northern sunsets have passed since James & Janice Bowden first decided to leave their big city (Hamilton, Ontario) life of stress and chaos. For James, after seven years working as a stage technician in a theater (lights, sound, set construction) the lure of dancing girls and high drama had lost its appeal. As for Janice, life as a highschool teacher was also wearing thin.
Our first season, at Red Pine in the summer of '88 was indeed a "learning experience". Our new, stress-free life was filled with wonderful challenges, like rebuilding electrical generating equipment, learning the difference between a walleye and a pike and trying to fathom how a flame makes a propane fridge work!
We have "come a long way, baby" and really do enjoy the lifestyle we now lead and feel privileged to know many guests that have become great friends. Janice has won an award for the "Outstanding Lady In Tourism In Ontario" (Presented by the Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters Association). She has excelled as a cook and according to many of our guests also holds the title of "Best Cook In Ontario". As for myself, I can now identify all the species of fish that call Lady Evelyn Lake their home, and actually get a chance to catch a few of them! I'm a happy guy if I can work most of the season on building and renovating on Red Pine Island.
This is one of the last, large lakes in Northeastern Ontario that is still classified as being remote, mainly due to the dam at the north end and absolutely NO ROAD ACCESS. It covers an area roughly 22,000 acres in size when added to Sucker Gut (funny name, beautiful lake) and Willow Island Lakes. Upwards of 450 miles of wilderness shoreline for walleye to cruise, bass to nest and northern pike to ambush. Red Pine is located on the Northeast arm of the lake featuring many sheltered fishing areas and water depths in the 15' to 40' range. No need to hunt for trophies in deep water here. In fact, as large as Lady Evelyn Lake is, most guests stay within a three mile radius of Red Pine Island for most of their fishing excursions! Read More >>
